For 2015 I am introducing a new line of sewing patterns that will fit both American Girl Dolls and Maru & Friends Dolls. I am thrilled to be designing for 20″ Maru & Friends- lovely dolls sculpted by premier doll artist Dianna Effner. Little Darlings now have big sisters.
This pattern deals with working with decorative border fabrics. However, yardage is also provided for making the dresses from 44″ wide cotton.
A note about Decorative Border Fabric: The beautiful design on border print fabrics is on the selvage. Look for prints that have decorative borders on both selvages. You will need more fabric (1¼ yards) to make a dress from a border print fabric since the 44” wide skirt will be cut lengthwise instead of widthwise. If the decorative border is on both selvages, you will be able to make two dresses from the same length of fabric.
To make the sleeves from the border the border will need to be at least 5” wide to cut out the sleeves and still have 1” for the lower edge of the skirt. I cut my sleeves, cuffs, ties and onlays along the length of the border, trimmed the rest away, then cut out the skirt. The alternate view shows just the cuffs from the border.
The delightful fabric I used for my pattern proofs is a home decorative cotton canvas called Flower Sugar Maison by Lecien.
My 4th pattern offering in the Maru line is Sugar Sweet. This gown will fall to the knee on Maru & Friends, or to the calf on American Girl Dolls. To shorten the skirt to knee length for American Girl Dolls, trim 1 1/2″ from the TOP of the skirt.
This pattern is intended for those with sewing experience and an intermediate skill level; it is an Easy pattern however.
The pattern includes 8 pages of color illustrations and instructions, and 2 pages of pattern pieces. Directions are included for making two variations of the dress . Pattern pieces not professionally drafted; they are copies of the actual fabric pieces used to make the dress and are clearly labeled for ease in use. Please note that my colorful patterns may use more printer ink that you are used to; if this is a concern, the preprinted version of the same pattern is available in another listing.
**This pattern is for your personal use and may not be shared, copied or sold. You may sell doll clothes made from this pattern if you recognize me as the designer in your listing.
Pattern will be available for INSTANT DOWNLOAD immediately after checkout.
